Beth Emet Synagogue needed a new entrance with enhanced security protection for visitors, guests and staff. The first floor west elevation of the building, previously windows overlooking a parking lot, was adapted to create this new entrance, complete with a bulletproof secure vestibule, ADA ramp with decorative handrails, and a copper clad cantilevered canopy. The area inside the entrance was modified to include a new reception office, a lounge, and a communicating space with oak doors and trim. The project also included a full renovation of the lower level Weiner Community Room and adjacent outdoor courtyard. Extensive updates to ten classrooms were also completed for the new JCC Chicago Early Childhood at Beth Emet.
